The Network Behind the Service

Most providers in Ghana resell someone else's capacity. Boldnet does not. We hold our own AFRINIC address space and AS number, run our own routing, and operate our core from PAIX Accra. This page sets out exactly what that means — because for a serious buyer, it should be verifiable rather than asserted.

We Are Not a Reseller

The difference sounds technical. It is commercial. A reseller's service quality, routing, address space and fault resolution are all decided by somebody else. Ours are decided by us.

Our Own Address Space

Boldnet holds IPv4 and IPv6 blocks allocated directly by AFRINIC, the regional internet registry for Africa. Addresses we assign to you are ours to assign.

Our Own AS Number

AS329477 is Boldnet's autonomous system. We announce our own routes to the global internet using BGP, and we control how traffic reaches our customers.

Our routing core is housed at PAIX Accra, Ghana's carrier-neutral data centre, where the country's carriers and exchanges physically meet.

Connectivity

Where Your Traffic Actually Goes

Ask any provider to describe their upstream arrangements. The answer tells you more about the service you will receive than any speed figure.

International Transit
Boldnet purchases IP transit from two independent international carriers, delivered over separate physical cross-connects at PAIX Accra. Routing is engineered so that a failure on one carrier reroutes to the other rather than interrupting service. Neither carrier is a single point of failure for your traffic.
Local Peering
We connect directly to Ghana's internet exchanges, so traffic between Boldnet customers and other Ghanaian networks stays inside Ghana. This removes the international round trip that adds well over a hundred milliseconds to what should be a local conversation — the difference is felt on voice, video and any locally hosted application.
Content Delivery
Traffic to major content and cloud platforms is delivered over the shortest available path, using peering where those platforms are present locally and transit where they are not.
Last-Mile Delivery
Customer circuits are delivered over dedicated fibre. Where a site sits outside our own footprint we deliver through established fibre partners under our own network-to-network interfaces, so the service, the SLA and the support relationship remain with Boldnet.
Verify it yourself. AS329477 and our address allocations are matters of public record. They can be checked in the AFRINIC WHOIS database at whois.afrinic.net, or through any public routing-information service. We would encourage you to do so — and to ask the same of anyone else you are considering.
Routing Security

Signed, Filtered and Verifiable

Route hijacking and misconfiguration take networks offline somewhere in the world most weeks. The defences are well understood and unevenly deployed. We deploy them.

RPKI Route Origin Validation

Every Boldnet prefix carries a Route Origin Authorisation, cryptographically signed under AFRINIC's Resource Public Key Infrastructure. This tells every network on the internet which autonomous system is permitted to announce our address space — so an accidental or malicious announcement by anyone else can be rejected automatically.

  • Invalid routes dropped rather than accepted

IRR Registration and Filtering

Our routing policy is published in the AFRINIC Internet Routing Registry, and our upstream carriers build their filters from it. Customer prefixes are accepted only when they are registered and authorised, which prevents one customer's misconfiguration from affecting another's service.

IPv6

Dual Stack, Not Someday

IPv4 addresses ran out years ago. Most Ghanaian enterprises are still served entirely over IPv4, behind carrier-grade address translation they were never told about.

Native IPv6 as Standard

Boldnet holds 2c0f:55a0::/32 directly from AFRINIC. Enterprise customers receive a native IPv6 allocation alongside their IPv4 addressing — routed, not translated. That is enough address space for every site, every subnet and every device you are ever likely to connect.

Why It Matters to You

A growing share of cloud services, mobile networks and government platforms now prefer or require IPv6. Organisations without it increasingly find themselves behind translation layers that break inbound connectivity, complicate security logging, and make some applications behave unpredictably for reasons nobody can explain.
